elevated

I went to Colorado and back over the last weekend tagging along on husband's business trip with no kids! I got a lot of knitting done in flight and on drive up to the gorgeous Rocky Mountains in Estes. It was wonderful to see all the glory of the mountains that we don't get see everyday and breathe some really fresh air.

Rockies Rockies

I picked up some pine cones for my kids Fall gathering collection - these are really soft pine cones and not to spiky like the ones am used to. If it wasn't for the strong winds almost blowing me over, I'd have picked up more.

This guy came right at us wanting to cross the road among all the human Elk watchers.

I haven't shown you my new hair style I got recently. I am starting locks and hopefully, my hair will continue to grow quickly as my head feels very cold being exposed. Bad timing (weatherwise although hats are useful) but I think am growing to like it!  FYI -I brought with me a couple sweaters thinking it will be much colder but it wasn't. I only wore my Cabled Jacket to the mountains because it was extremely windy!

More photos here. I'll show you the exciting knitting stuff as soon as I get photos. It's rainy, windy and cold here, just perfect for cozying up in and drinking a cup of hot tea and cocoa.

the new normal

Happy thursday with an afternoon cuppa tea!

Still here.

Still trying to figure out a new normal to family life and crafting, now that school is in (for Big T.} while little T. is trying hard to renegotiate his napping {he thinks he doesn't need naps anymore!}

Knitting has become quite monotonous around here, therefore, sorting out things in my head is in order. Just as Fall is calling.

Happy Thursday!

p.s. Thanks for all the lovely comments on Demi.

.....and back!

idle dingy's at Pier 77

This pretty much sums up bits of our vacation. As you know, when vacation is over, reality hits at home with loads of stuff to take care of. School starts next week and I am looking forward to kick back a bit and seriously get some projects done before Fall (my favourite season). That includes some real knitting and sharing something finished!

Oh! I do have some catching up to do with blog reading and seeing what everyone has been up to! See you soon this time!

while away

the farm house and barns

We visited the old family farm in Rhode Island where Big T. spent two weeks with her great aunt who runs horse camps, polishing up her horse training skills and riding.

Going riding in the woods

Groom first

Little T. learned a few things about horses - grooming comes first before riding.

ponny riding with smiles and 2 helpers!

bunnies

The kids also got to pet rabbits (the aunt has several bunny cages where she raises the rabbits) and Big T. got to do some work on those too (like feeding, cleaning etc)

this old kitchen

Luckily, my job was only to cook dinner in this very old, small vintage kitchen which has a lot of stuff nicely arranged and organised (I still couldn't find where the cooking utensils were until I asked!).

balancing act the african way - my way!

And off to the garden I went to pick some fresh ripe tomatoes for the rabbit stew I cooked.

That was last week. Now, we are in Kennebunkport, ME for another week or so. Enjoy!

Sunshine & blooms

What do I do when not knitting? Well, among other things,  I tend to the garden a lot. I love gardening as much as I love knitting. Here is some proof:-

Sunshine and yellow

I don't know what these are named but they're over 6 foot high (dwarfing me) and I have no idea what I did to them this year that they grew this high than the previous year. They're in full bloom, just like sunshine!

Hibiscus in bloom

I prune the Hibiscus, also blooming. I have a thing for purple flowers among other colours.

Lily blooms

I cut some blooms to put in a vase to enjoy inside the home.

Canna Cleopatra

And I like to take pictures of my flowers like crazy. See?

Hope your Monday is full of sunshine and blooms!
