All I need today to feel inspired is creating something new....

Lately, I have been seen....

Wearing my favorite knits to the grocery store and bookstore

A cabled red hat knitted in a wool yarn I don't remember the name (from my mother in-law's left over stash) but very soft and warm.

A close up of Blue Scallop Scarf that is so soft against the skin. This was a quick and easy project and I intend to make some more later

And of course, an almost oversized Tam in Rowan Yorkshire Tweed Chunky, which by the way, has been finished since I mentioned it here. Taking pictures of my stuff is a bit tricky especially if I have to put it on (you can tell these pics are self taken!) otherwise I rely on husband to help on weekends.

Enjoy the day!

Blue Scallop Scarf

Yesterday morning I started crocheting my first item for 2007  Project Spectrum for February/March, featuring Blue/White and Grey colors. I have just completed the scarf a few minutes ago and am very excited to show it right away even though it's not blocked yet.

I used 2 skeins of Jaeger "Mohair Art" that I bought on auction on Ebay a few months ago and I thought it would be a great start to participate in the group. I used a US G6/4mm hook.

Here it is after about an hour of crocheting:-

And the stitch detail -

I chose the 'Openwork Scallops' pattern which I found in one of my French vintage "Mon Tricot Knitting Dictionary' pattern book published in the 1960's. I don't own many crotchet books but am sure you can find the stitch pattern in any new crotchet books.

The completed scarf measures 56 inches long and 8.5 inches wide unblocked. Will update once blocked.

Update: 65 inches long and 9 inches wide after blocking.

I really like the stitch detail, the fuzziness of the yarn and the color.

I am planning on making more items in all three colors for the project and use up some of my stash that needs destashing. Also I think the project will encourage me to try other avenues other than knitting to make stuff.
