WIP roundup #2 - The sleeve

Sleeve

I brought along 2 hanks of the worsted Bluefaced Leicester yarn to wind on the trip, just in case I wanted to knit something other than the socks or Ellen. Just in case. Then, I had a urge to continue swatching and finally, I convinced myself to start knitting the sleeve and see what happens. Above is what the sleeve was then - it went so fast on size #8 needles.

Here is the sleeve now, done except for the shaping. Then, I had second thoughts about the worsted yarn I used and thought maybe the DK version would be better. So I swatched the same stitches with the DK yarn and it became clear that worsted yarn was the best. I guess that means I am officially knitting the sweater as I have talked about it so much.

I will be working on the second sleeve soon and then the real fun/tribulations will begin as I figure out the details of knitting the body. As you may know, the sweater/jacket has some clever shaping on the back and the neck/collar is quite intriguing. I am definitely game for that. I think a little challenge will be good.

Somehow starting with the sleeve (which I normally don't) made it easy for me to decide if the yarn and all the details of the sweater will work before I invested too much time on it. So far, it's worth it.
